I said a bunch before. Seriously, please go read it.
2014 – GOP screams that the debt ceiling will destroy us all
2017 – GOP overwhelmingly supports a “bipartisan” increase in the debt ceiling
2018 – GOP overwhelmingly supports a “bipartisan” increase in the debt ceiling
2019 – GOP overwhelmingly supports a “bipartisan” increase in the debt ceiling
2021 – GOP screams that the debt ceiling will destroy us all
2023 – GOP tries to use the debt ceiling to blackmail the Executive branch to roll back legislation
I am so incredibly furious. I can’t support the GOP (at the federal level) at all because of this bullshit. They are risking the world economy because they are butt-hurt they aren’t in power and that the Democrats when they are in power pass legislation.
I have said for years I’m not partisan, but you know what? I am. I keep ending up in the Democratic camp by default because the GOP doesn’t have anything for me. And I don’t mean “I don’t like their solutions.” I mean they outright say they aren’t even trying. Pick a topic and tell me which side is giving any kind of solution:
- Education is too expensive
- No one wants to teach anymore
- Healthcare
- Childcare is too expensive and single-income houses unsustainable
- Housing Shortages
- Housing is too expensive
- Social Security is facing collapse
- Guns
- Safety
- Immigration
- Refugees
What are the GOP solutions? They are good at telling me what is wrong with the Democratic option(s) but they aren’t offering me an alternative. And I refuse to vote for “I don’t like the only solution offered” option. That’s like saying I have cancer and I don’t like the option that cheomotheropy will save my life. No shit Sherlock. Chemo sucks. But you know what’s worse? Cancer.
The only platform I can give the GOP is that they have a theoretical plan to fix “debt” for the country. They want to cut services. They want LESS money for schools, parks, the FDA, DOT, and Labor. Much less anything even resembling helping those with the least. They want to do away with any kind of medicade (hell, probably medicade too), housing vouchers, food stamps – much less programs like disability or veteran health or….
So I guess I’m not partisan. I don’t think I’m truly a Democrat, but at least they give me something to consider. I’m at the point where I’ll vote for a bad plan over no plan.
