I support unions. I saw this post Wed evening and bumped my planned Thursday book review to post about this. Basically, workers unionized in 2022, and shockingly the company decided to let all of them go.
I was delighted about the strike successes recently: UPS negotiating with the teamsters; the writers in entertainment; the actors (still ongoing, but going strong!).
And then I saw this article and my rage flared up. Here’s the language that really infuriated me, “ioWare declined to continue its contract in August.”
Gee, I wonder why.
So technically, the company might be able to make the argument they didn’t fire these people because they were unionized – they cut the jobs because there was no contract to support them! The fact the studio has other similar jobs (which they might have made just different enough!) but we can’t keep THESE employees any more.
I am disgusted that CEO’s are making hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars annually while their employees scrabble to live pay-check to pay-check. I am sick of the shrinking of the middle class while the rich giggle and try to sell the lie that it’s the lower class somehow draining the coffers.
